VIDEO SURVEILLANCE

Video Surveillance PTZ Outdoor Camera Victoria BC

Video surveillance systems (sometimes referred to as CCTV) are used for a wide variety of applications including deterrence of theft and vandalism, protection of staff, evidence gathering, safety process monitoring, people counting, and more. They can allow a single person to watch many areas simultaneously such as a store manager keeping an eye over their shop, or a remotely located security officer watching over a compound full of vehicles and equipment. Inexpensive computer hard drives allow weeks or months of high-definition video to be stored allowing you to investigate incidents after the fact and save critical video footage to be used by the police, or in civil cases.

Versatech provides complete video surveillance solutions for indoor and outdoor applications including varifocal and pan-tilt-zoom cameras, infrared and thermal imaging devices, license plate recognition products, radar detection systems, video servers, storage hardware, and remote monitoring services. In addition to traditional video surveillance, we offer Axis Communication’s 2-way network audio devices and body-worn camera solutions.

We install high-definition network video (HDNV) solutions. HDNV cameras send video and audio streams over data networks in the same way that streaming services send video content to your home. This technology allows us to use commonplace “LANs” (local area networks) consisting of standard Cat5e data cables and network switches as the backbone of the video surveillance system. Windows and MAC PCs and iOS/Android devices can be used to access live and recorded video from any location.

The capabilities and value of video surveillance systems has been greatly enhanced in recent years with the introduction of advanced on-camera processing to provide video and audio “analytics” to alert you when suspicious activity occurs, such as intrusion or loitering. Self-monitoring of your cameras can be achieved by sending push notifications, texts or e-mails to your iPhone/Android device. Alerts can be created using camera analytics or a trigger from your intrusion alarm system. This can help you react to security incidents more quickly and with a better understanding of what’s happening on-site. Please be aware that you should never respond to a potentially dangerous situation on your own, so if you’ll be self-monitoring you should be prepared to call the police using the appropriate phone numbers for the area.

Self-monitoring is typically done in situations where triggers would be uncommon as you don’t want to be disturbed by routine, non-critical activity. To deal with situations where regular unwanted activity is occurring you may want to consider Live Video Monitoring and Response. Click here for more information.

All of our video system components come from industry leaders Axis Communications (Sweden) and Hanwha Techwin (South Korea) and are fully NDAA compliant. NDAA compliance assures that the products meet rigorous security standards and DO NOT USE the HiSilicon chipsets embedded in products from Chinese government-controlled manufacturers such as HIKVision and Dahua. Click here to read a detailed article on how NDAA compliance helps to keep your system and your internal network secure and why we believe manufacturers such as Hikvision should be avoided.
